Antelias, November 9, 2005
The Catholic International Union of Press – Lebanon (UCIPLIBAN) demanded on November 9, 2005 the closure of all Lebanese war files and the unveiling of the status of all missing Lebanese in Syrian and Israeli prisons. They also asked for the release of journalist Habib Younis and his two in-mates from prison in Lebanon for being baselessly charged of raising “ war – mottos“. As these opinions are only theoretical and fictitions, Younis confirmed in a press conference, his rejection to resorting to aggressive or illegal calls, but he believes in the power of the word as expressed in his poetry and writings. For a democratic freedom of speech in Lebanon, lifting mandate on Lebanon and finding speedy solutions are required. The Lebanese government must take necessary steps with the Arab League and the United Nations to find solutions for this problem.
In addition, the fact- finding committee established for the missing Lebanese is asked to publish all collected findings and deliver then to international institutions.
