The World Forum of Professionals in the Secular and Religious Media in Lebanon (UCIP Lebanon) claims the State for a general directional plan for the media in Lebanon which takes in consideration the difficult economic situations which reflected on the media and publicists.
1 – The suspension of unauthorized radios should accompany a general directional plan which consists of revising the given authorizations, especially those related to television authorizations, and the financial, political and human surface study of the audiovisual.
2 – Financial difficulties which the media suffers push it to close or to hold in pledge. This forms a threat to the plurality and media freedoms, thus the Forum considers that the duty of the State is to work on the guarantee of these two acts and not to take the proceeds of these financial difficulties in order stifle media freedoms or close media companies.
3 – The Lebanese Television, in its new version of public sector where the opposition and loyalist meet, and aims to serve the public and not to achieve the power interests, seems today to be an urgent necessity where all Lebanese trends meet, and be a tribune for the artistic and cultural giving which private televised channels are unable to present.
