The World Forum of Professionals in the Secular and Religious Media – Lebanon condemned the exposure to personal and public freedoms in Lebanon, and claimed the release of the lawyer Mohamed al Maghribi.
The statement included the following:
1 – The exposure once again to Dr. Adonis Al Akra and the limitation of his movement and thoughts constitutes a transgression to the personal freedom guaranteed by the Lebanese Constitution. The exposure to intellengtias is not a proof of health in the society.
2- In the same framework come the pressures on the technical staff of the program “Bass Mat Watan” (critical Lebanese program), which led to annul one of its ceremonies. This action gives a bad image of freedoms in Lebanon and the space given to the intellengtia and the artist for expressing their opinion.
3 – Retaining the lawyer Mohamed al Maghrebi after declaring his candidature to the position of President of lawyers puts lots of question marks. It transgresses as well the civil society where Al Maghrebi is a distinct activist. Thus, the Forum claims the immediate release of Mohamed Al Maghrebi, especially because his is one of the known figures and he is not a danger to the society. Furthermore, the Court can investigate the case without relying to the detention which transgresses the dignity and position of the person. The Forum, when engaged to stand by the Bar of lawyers in Beirut which constitutes a defense position from public freedoms in Lebanon, wishes to put an end to this case which harms the syndicate and the civil society at the same time.
