– In our nation today, the electoral law takes a major importance due to the repercussions on the freedom destiny and the development of the democratic path in Lebanon. It is one of the essential laws, so it is necessary that the society forces exert efforts equal to the sacrifices of the Lebanese society thirty years ago, to thousands of youths who died for establishing a society which achieves their aspirations and transmits them to institutions which guarantee the future of the nation, so the law can be just and holding a future.
– The elections law, on the basis of any great district, contradicts the democratic action basises which suppose that the elector knows the candidate so the choice be rational and give the good result saluted by the electoral mechanism which is people choosing his representatives and not figures choosing the people. The great district forbids this action and consolidates the procurement of rollers and buses to transport electors at the expense of others and prevents the real representation of the people.
– The small district guarantees to renew the political elites in a democratic way, the people choosing who he considers qualified and represents him as best. As for the great district, it encourages favoritism, and dependency, and forbids the country the chances of developing politics.
– One of the main reasons which led to the Lebanese war and to its aftermath all thirty years long is the lack of our country to responsible political leader elites, at the level of decisive challenges of the nation. The prominence of new leaderships doe not happen but by safe and active electoral law. Thus, the true independence process and the constitution of a modern State pass by an electoral law at the basis of the smaller possible electoral district for the most sincere and for the best representation.
– The Lebanese mass media is invited today to play its role in constituting a public opinion which pushes the officials toward the elaboration of a law which prevents the coming generations from the dangers of mistakes threatening the future of the country and its people.
