After the dangerous developments of today (Friday May 9, 2008) which shook Lebanon and attacked lots of radios, televisions and newspapers, the World Forum of Professionals in the Secular and Religious Media – Lebanon (UCIPLIBAN) held an urgent exceptional session during which the members discussed the events, their dimensions and consequences, especially regarding media.
The UCIPLIBAN emphasized on the next postulations:
1- The necessity of keeping the media, disregarding their political lines, aside from all political and security conflicts in the country and allowing them to continue their work safely and freely.
2- The UCIPLIBAN stressed once again on the principles to which it was always devoted and called to its respect, mainly the freedom of the media and expression in the frame of democracy and diversity, far away from violence.
3- The UCIPLIBAN also asks the security leaders to protect the journalists and all medias. And keeps its sessions open in order to follow-up the events and pursuit its contact with medias, journalists and parties concerned about medias affairs on all levels.
